--- The Best Gift Ever ---

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college.
For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom
and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had
purchased the car.

Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study.
His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him.
He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold.
Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,
"With all your money you give me a Bible?"
And stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very
successful in business.
He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him.
He had not seen him since that graduation day.
Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son.
He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.

He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still
new Bible, just as he had left it years ago.
With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages.
His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11,
"And if ye, being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?"
As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired.
On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...
PAID IN FULL.

How many times do we miss God's blessing because they are not packaged as we expected? I trust you enjoyed this. Pass it on to others. Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for...

PLS. SEND THIS TO AT LEAST FIVE PEOPLE SO AS TO LET THIS GREAT LESSON FLOW AROUND.

Every time you wage your life for a fight in the ring, history happens.

A true peacemaker comes to life.

There is no need for a war. Or bombs. Or guns.

There is no need for world leaders' meeting or a nation's President to make create these for just one moment:

No crimes.

No traffic.

No cheatings.

No fighting.

No brawls.

Lessened accidents.

Equal social status for all citizens as every one watched in awe.

Smiles on people's faces.

Joy to those who are due the feelings.

Champions come together.

It takes just one boxer: Manny Pacquiao.

You made history again.

MABUHAY KA, Manny!

My husband and I are food fanatics. We always want to try something different when it come to food. Whenever new to a place, we search for foods which are not of the usual; like what we take in daily. We really make it a point that when we are exploring a new place, we will try to eat something different that will give us extraordinary gustatory experience. After all, it is always food that defines culture in different places. Thus, we have this usual saying that if we want to be part of a new culture, why not taste the local food available?

Usually, when we go around places, we cannot resist the succulent, appetizing food available on different restaurants' menus. Just like whenever we are home and watching the cable television, then foods from different places are shown, we could not help but drool over some recipe. Such is what I heard about Manchester restaurants, eating out is such a treat there! Can you just imagine the blend of choice you can have from, Rusholme, the famous Indian restaurant to coffee shop in the Northern Quarters up to the exotic Chinatown, I am sure food will be irresistible there.
I have not been to Manchester but with such inviting place because of availability of food choices which are not too heavy on the budget, I cannot help but be envious of those who have access to the proximity of the place. But who knows, I will someday go there to have that heavenly experience!

Today’s Saturday Social Question:

Do you have any siblings and do you get along with them?

My Answer:

Yes, I have five sisters and two brothers. I am the fourth of eight children of my parents., but only my Mama is alive now. Five of us are married with children, while three are still single. It is always my rule to NEVER to be in conflict with any of them. We get along fine. We always make it a point to have a simple, or even grand ones, get together whenever we can. After all when everything has been said, done or spent: family counts the most!

Hotels

Thursday, June 26, 2008

It has been more than a year since I have been in a hotel. I love the perks and amenities of hotels especially like what United States Hotels have to offer their guests. It has high standards of accommodations for all their guests.
If you are in L.A. then they have Los Angeles Hotels to cater to your needs. It is like a home away from home. Same goes for San Francisco hotels, because even below a hundred dollars, you can start availing of the amenities there. Even the New York Hotels seem to be the best place to be accommodated. So whenever you fancy hotel luxury, take the opportunity to be there.

That's what I need to be able to keep and maintain my blogs. Thus, more than just the idea of having blogs , enthusiasm and discipline to maintain them are needed. What exactly is needed for my blogs to be in tip-top shapes all the time?
1. Fresh and updated entries, consistently.
2. Bloghopping to keep updated with recent scoops from (blogger) friends and other websites.
3. Dropping entrecards to build more traffic for my blogs.
4. Returning tags, memes and comments as much as possible. After all it's for my blogs benefit and i looooveeee answering them.
5. Checking emails for blogs' updates.
6. Linking with other sites.
7. Deciphering HTML codes, which are all Greek to me.
8. Publishing, rejecting or simply updating comments.
9. Changing themes if possible.
10. Updating blogrolls.

It's no piece of cake to maintain blogs, but if you are like me and you love what you do: no sweat!

Convergence

Thursday, June 26, 2008

My husband and I earn our living, online. Other people find it strange that we get our income by being online most of the time. What is stranger for others is that we seldom leave our house and yet we can keep our household economically afloat through our earnings from online transactions. We have debunked the idea that in order to find a living, we need to follow the pattern of being stuck in eight-to-five working hours. Strange it may sound, but that is the reality of it all. It takes a total turn around or big paradigm shift, but I guess we just had it earlier than the others. Eventually, I know many will follow this trend.

We all know that most business owners advertise online these days. For many products and services to be on the top of the market, both writers and advertisers need one another. A hub like SocialSpark.com which can bring convergence to both, is needed by everyone. Not only that it can bring optimization to your site, products or services, but it is also a good place for social networking: advertisers and writers alike!

Got products, services or the like? Then log on to SocialSpark.com. No doubt it will keep your online business rolling and soaring.

It has been a three months since I decided to test the waters of being a full time stay-at-home wife and mom. Except for sudden pangs of boredom doing chores repeatedly around the house, there is really not much regret with my decision to pursue a new route. No regrets, YET.

I cannot call myself a true blue, authentic work-at-home-mom (WAHM) no matter how much i want to. I have yet to find regular time to tinker with the keyboard big time, before I can be called a certified WAHM.

Deep introspection while doing the laundry or wiping spills on the floor, permits me to reflect on these questions: Does it really matter whether I stay at home or not? Does it really matter if I serve my family full-time or it will just be part of unknown history later? Who really cares whether I dutifully prepare healthy meals over instant food? If I really get out of my way to shop for the freshest, healthiest food for the family, who tells me to bother, anyway? Who gives a damn whether clothes are ironed or washed/folded with extra TLC? Whether the cupboards are well-kept or soiled clothes abound, I wonder who really gives a glance?

I have no idea, really. All I know is: it is my choice. Does it really matter?

In your life, what is it that really matters the most?

There is just one occasion or time of the year that I can let my imagination and creativity run wild, that is during Halloween That is because I can let my kids wear Halloween costumes. I was so excited when my two kids joined t heir school's Halloween party. I was in panic due more to excitement, what to let them wear during the party. First, I wanted them to look unique. Second, was for the reason that i wanted them to really feel comfortable about their costumes. So i let my my creative juices do the imagining what to let my kids wear.
After much ado and consideration, I dressed them up to look like witches. I made up their faces in such ways that they look dark and scary. I sew their own costumes for the occasion. I was truly a stage mom when it comes to my kids welfare and happiness. I really took my time to make their costumes.

However, recently as I was browsing online I found this interesting site about Halloween costumes for all ages and sizes. So I need not worry the next time my kids' school will have their Halloween party.
What is more cool about this site I found is that they give out huge sale! So there is really no need to worry that these costumes will rip and spin your budget into oblivion. They give out feature products also so that the customers have choices to buy online.

Liza, muchas gracias for the tag! Did I write it right in Spanish?

When Frank came, there were many affected. When he left, many suffered.

In the first place no one wanted him here, yet he came uninvited.

It was a sleepless night for all of us as Frank hollered and waged his rage outside.
Hmmm.I hated the fact I was robbed of my sleep for one night. It just does not feel the same. But was that the only thing i should be pondering about?
No.
I worried, too. More than my self-centered thoughts I was praying for others who were probably cold, hungry or that time homeless already under Frank's might. At the other parts of the archipelago I know Frank hit harder than he did on our place.. What can my prayers do? Only God knows.

Now that economic crisis lurks like a hawk, here comes a new reason to scratch our heads: Frank, the typhoon.

Hannah, of Cultivating Home, has a very interesting and post about raising daughters. I read the post over and over again; after all I have three daughters of my own.

It is very difficult to raise virtuous children these days. I try my best to live up to my own set of virtues as a parent. However, the larger society, where little children belong , becomes the predator of good values. Our society permits what is true, good and beautiful to become relative. What we have is one permissive society where values are compromised just to allow materialism to prevail. Our society becomes an arena for what seems to be a distorted version of truth or good. And that is very sad because in the long run, my daughters will eventually be leading their own lives. I cannot protect them forever from the harsh realities of today's world.

Long ago, when I was young and single I took the advice of one of my co-workers who happened to be an early childhood educator: "Invest on everything that is good for your children whether in values or in opportunities, talk to them all the time and give them good choices so they can decide for themselves - then you will never go wrong."

I still do that now if I can afford to. It is never easy. It is never perfect. I am not and will not always be in control of things. Nothing will ever go perfect as planned or conceived, but I can always try to stay grounded to what is true, good and beautiful in the truest meaning of what Christianity is .

As I wrote earlier, there are no schools where I can get degrees like Doctorate in Parenting or something like that. No one can really tell me what should not or cannot be done.

Rearing children is always and forever be an experiential learning.

Digital Age

Thursday, June 19, 2008

My children have no idea how life like is without computers and the internet. Really. Unlike my generation, I still know how life was without such perks. Life is different now compared during my growing up years. We did not have computers then. Today, seldom do we see households without computers and internet connection. Indeed, it is such a wired world now. I cannot imagine going back to the days when there was less of the technology we all enjoy these days.

My eldest is the most updated among my three children when it comes to digital technology; be it digital maps or newest tools. She is into online games and knowledgeable about recent trends in technology. Most of the time she does her researches for school projects online. She knows how to use the computer enough for her to use "hot keys" when navigating the computer keyboard.

I remember watching my kids tinker with computers long before they speak in complete sentences. One of them had to use both hands then to be able to control the mouse. It looked funny but that was, I think a sign how ready they were for the challenge since they were not threaten by the computer at all. More than the exposure to technology that we gave them, letting them find their way to new software, be in games or digital maps, we always let them take their time to be able to teach themselves.
Truly, it pays to start them young. Nowadays, they can spend almost all day figuring out how to find their way to new games or software. In this competitive and technology driven world of ours, it is always an edge when one knows how to deal with machines. It is always an advantage to be able to be confident about basic knowledge how the wired world works.

Men

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

As usual my day was spent browsing online. Of course the whole day was not spent just going online. Maybe a third of the day.
In fairness to myself, I also learn a lot when I surf the internet. Being online means so much both for entertainment and information absorption. I cannot imagine life without the internet. I can live without it, but it is more colorful when spent online.
Majority of my time online was spent reading about recent, juicy show business news. There are more than a hundred dozen sites to read when it comes to entertainment news. People flock to those sites.
Recently, I read about different Hollywood celebrities who have taken their roles as fathers seriously. In fact, most of those men are hunks yet, they take their parenting roles very diligently. A few of my favorites are: Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Hugh Jackman, Will Smith and many other good looking fellows. I wonder how they manage their time looking fit, good and hunky at the same time parenting their kids. I wonder how they would look like thirty or so year from now... I am sure many will age and look old, too. By then, many aggressive girls will probably approach them and tell them: Recover your virility and manhood with Viagra!

New Firefox

Wednesday, June 18, 2008

I just downloaded the new Firefox 3. So far so good. It is fast and I got no problems with it.
How about you? Have you tried it?
The benefit of being online most of the time is I get the most up to date information from software to hardware to latest scoop. LOL.

Entertaining Ideas

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

Last weekend was a relaxing one for me. I stayed in my sister's house for three days. Of course I brought my kids along. It was a fun and memorable time. It is good to be invited to stay in her place once again. My kids had a wonderful time, so are their parents.
For three days I just lazed around the comforts of her home. It was the feeling of being pampered again, that I cherished. Of course I do not get the same kind or level of luxury everyday. So every time I get such opportunity, I take my time to savor it.
I love to tour around the front yard of my sister's place. The area is so big; my mind keeps churning for different outdoor entertaining ideas.
Since the front area of the house is big enough to accommodate about a hundred people,I will never run out of different outdoor entertaining ideas had it been my own place. My creative juices will never run out of different themes for parties and gatherings to suit my moods or whatever I fancy for the moment. For sure, visitors will love to enjoy the time spent with such kind of accommodations.

GUD is Good

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

To browse online is one of the routines I do every single day without fail. It seems that it has become one of the habits which has brought me joy and benefits rolled in one. Being one visual person, i love how reading and seeing different pictures online have given me much advantage than looking for books or magazines to suit my fancy. Even if there are times that I like a specific magazine or book, looking for it inside crowded bookstores takes time and lots of effort. It is to tiring to scour the bookstore for my choices when my list of things to do keeps ballooning every single day. So what is the solution for this predicament? Get it online!
GUD Magazine PDFs is one of the best online resources for different genre of literature that a reader like me seeks. Not only that it gives a wide range of choices but it also offers specific genre to suit my fancy. It also comes by issue and volume that one can choose from.
I only need my internet connection to be able to access GUD Magazine PDFs. Should I want to buy copies online it is so easy to click my mouse than to spend endless hours inside a bookstore.

So what is with number eleven?

Aside from the fact that it is an odd number, it is a special one for me (and for my husband).

That is the number of years I am married to my dear husband...June 14 was our wedding anniversary!

It is a blessing to celebrate the sanctity of marriage. Since not everyone chooses to marry or to stay married, I feel blessed to still live under this sacrament. It is not solely by my own doing that our marriage works, there is a whole lot of Divine Intervention here.To stay together under the grace of marriage is an everyday adventure coupled with mega-tons of prayers. I am also very blessed to be married to a very good person...

Our marriage is not perfect, none is. What is good about it is: it is a work in progress.

It is actually a love triangle for me: God, my husband and myself. It should always be a love triangle, right?

Or else, without one angle of the triangle, it goes bonkers!

I pray I will still be able to blog about my golden wedding anniversary...pray for me!!!

Stay in Scilly Hotels

Monday, June 16, 2008

Scilly Hotels will be my first choice when I go to the United Kingdom. Hands down and no questions asked, it offers the comfort and luxury that tourists and travelers long for. With picturesque view of the harbour, it offers the peace and quiet that every person wanting to rest looks for. However, since it is just two minutes away from the hub of shops, pubs and different restaurants, it comes complete to complement one's travel or vacation.
Whoever wants the relaxed environment of the island but not too far away from the mainstream, Scilly Hotels should be the only choice!

I received this very special award Sharing the Love from Liza.
I was very touched, and still am, to be mentioned here.
Indeed, blogs form friendships!

This award is extra special because Crystal created it in honor of the donor who saved her sons life. Her son Noah had to have a heart transplant when he was just over a month old. This award is supposed to help raise awareness of the importance of organ donation.

So, here are the rules Crystal gave:

“The rules of this award are: SHARE THE LOVE!!! Share this award with all those blogs out there that you love. All the people who make you smile. All those that make you laugh. All those that make your day. All those that leave uplifting comments on your blog. **All I ask, is that you include a link to this post with the award and ask your recipient to do the same**

As you may have recently seen on my side bar, I have finally created a custom blog award!! I have wanted to do this for a long time but never came up with something that “fit”. I didn’t want just anything. It had to be something that meant something to me. And what could mean more than Sharing the Love by giving you pieces of my heart??

So I created this award in Honor Of The Donor That Saved Noah’s Life. I share this award with those of you whose love and friendship have enriched my life and made my world a better place.

I hope by passing this award around the blogging world we can all help raise awareness of the need for Organ Donation.”

I’m passing this award to the following:

I was quite surprised to know that there are around 70 million blogs online these days. Can you believe how much traffic the web creates just because of blogs? Twenty four hours a day and seven days a week, bloggers from all over the world and different walks of life have a stronghold in the web traffic; not to mention it increases by the number daily.
Being a blogger for quite sometime now, I am fully aware of the popularity of blogs when it comes to one of the most up to date source of information or knowledge dissemination in the web. What is it they day anyway? : "It takes one, to know one!"

Not only bloggers create buzz, market demand or form cliques and friendships around the web, but we are also the most informed consumers. Thus, most clever business owners increase sales through constant flow of information in the web or through blogs.

BloggersReview is one of the recent additions in the web to create a buzz about how to advertise on budget. Advertisers flock to this kind of portal to promote their products or services without too much cut on the budget. Rates are friendly and it gets the job done.

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

New taggy from my very good friend Francine. Thanks girl! Here’s how we play this meme:

INSTRUCTION:

Determine your birthday month and get a word that rhymes with it or you can affix to it. Caps lock your birth month (ex: MAYday! JUNE dune, APRILicious, JULYvely, AUGUST pocus, parched MARCH…). Be unique.

2.Your birth month plus the word affixed or rhymed shall become the tag’s title in your case.

3.Get your birthday and add the digits involved. Example, if your birthday falls on the 25th of July, add 2 and 5 you get 7.

4.Whatever is the sum, write a list of the MATERIAL gifts you wish to receive, the number of which shall correspond to the sum of your birthday. For example, applying the case above (in rule number 3), you will write seven (7) things you wish to receive.

5.After your wish list, put your name and birthday in the Bloggers’ Birthday Directory, with a link to your blog/s. Note: when you add your birthday, please place it in a way that the dates appear chronological (January, February… 1, 2, 3)

It was a lucky chance. Got this new pair for half its original price. These shoes make my 5'4" height, three inches taller. Some days I just need to give in to my femininity.

For $37+ instead of $74 ( P1600), I felt lucky to get these from Celine.

What do you think?

Remember the web development company that is co-owned and managed by my husband? Well, it is still very alive and soaring.
Recently, the partners decided to transfer offices. From the current office they are renting, the new office now is right here in our own house!
Practically speaking, this was a good move for all of them and the company. Instead of paying rent, spending on utilities and another internet connection, so much can be saved from the move. Now, we have an office when you enter our home.
Let's wait and see how beneficial the move for all of us.

Teaser.

My Mother is turning 67 today!

Happy Birthday Mama...

I am so happy we will be with her, again, to celebrate her birthday. All of my siblings are getting together today for my Mama's birthday, I am sure of that!

It is a blessing to be able to come together and celebrate with my Mama her precious day. I know time is ticking away, and we have to get hold of every moment to make my mother be happy or smile often; that is, whether with our presence or invaluable gifts we can bestow her.
I am excited for tonight's event.

Dinner will be a good way to catch up with my mother, siblings, nieces, nephews and in-laws or be refreshed with some chats - again and again...again till we burp then yawn.

After all has been said, done and spent - family relationship is always the most important essence of life!

Call it fairytale-like fantasy but for me, the smell of home becomes more enticing when there is something new from the kitchen... or oven. Nothing beats the aroma of freshly baked goodies from the oven when one comes home.
Lately, I have been obsessed with baking. Here are some of my masterpieces:
The first batch of cupcakes I made...
Hmmm. Not perfect but will pass as so-so....

Second attempt on baking cupcakes. Still not moist but not really that bad.

My Mozzarella Buns. These were patronized more than the cupcakes.
Was it the bun or the cheese that made these more appetizing?
What do you think?

Used Cars

Monday, June 02, 2008

In our place people invest their hard earned money on investments, such as used cars. Since it is cheaper to acquire used cars than to buy a new one, there are more people who buy used cars than to acquire a new one. Aside from the fact that it is more expensive to buy a new one, it is more practical to buy a used car.
However, when investing on such things, it pays to know what you are buying. More and more people have become aware of what to look for when acquiring a used car: mileage, what year was the model was launched in the market and what level of ownership has the car been up to.
I, for one is an owner of a used car. It is more practical to acquire one if the owner will just used the car for short distances or for family's activities. There are actually more savings which can be set aside if one buys a used car than if one puts all his or her hard-earned money for a brand new car.
If I need to change cars, I would still grab a used car. It is wiser to do so.

As I have blogged earlier, I was on vacation for four days in my sister's house. I enjoyed the stay so much. Aside from the fact that it was a breath of fresh air for me through a short vacation, I was excited to stay in her new house also.
During my stay, I was inside the house most of the time. I immersed myself in the luxurious "accommodation" that come along with the house.

As I noticed the house does not have the fancy ceiling fans anymore like what my sister used to have in her old place. She had her house fully air-conditioned already. So during my stay, wherever I went, it was comfortable because of the coolness of the place.

What reminds me of "hotel"-like amenities are the under cabinet lighting, if I am not mistaken, in the master's bedroom.
The best part of the house is the chandelier that catches every visitor's attention, in the living room. I wonder if it is Forecast lighting. I would like to check that next time I visit.

Truly, it is a dream come true for my sister. I am so happy for her. Hopefully, I can visit again the soonest. I love to think of the fact that, that huge house belongs to my own sibling...and I can
