The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers,

wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less,

we buy more, but enjoy less.

we have bigger houses and smaller families,

more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense,

more knowledge, but less judgment,

more experts, yet more problems,

more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little,

drive too fast, get too angry,

stay up too late, get up too tired,

read too little, watch TV too much,

and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.
We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.
We've added years to life not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We conquered outer space but not inner space.
We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.
We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of :
fast foods and slow digestion,
big men and small character,
steep profits and shallow relationships.
These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of:
quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one
night stands, overweight bodies,
and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.
It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.
A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't send this to at least 8 people....Who cares?

For Now

Monday, July 28, 2008

1. I was awaken by hubby at around 9. I slept at almost 1 am due to some assignments, surfing the net for some new information.

2. I prepared breakfast while chatting with my second girl. She woke up around 9:30.

3. Minutes later I brought her to the film showing she was scheduled to attend.

4. Quite a day for me since this is my "errands" day. Went to the community hall to get business permit. Waited, conversed with the person, waited then I was able to secure one, so off we went to have our lunch at home.

5. After washing up, we had some homeschooling time. While they were finishing up, Istarted surfing the net. Got curious with NY IT Services and their offers. Need some help with I.T. issues right now.

6. I went to my nephews' school.Had to talk to their class advisers. My daughter and I waited for almost two hours just to be accommodated! I was about to walk out already but I told myself patience is a virtue so the waiting paid off. We were able to discuss grade-related issues.

7. Visited my Mama.

8. Dinner was cooked by me at around 7. Then we ate dinner together ( as usual) before 8 pm.

What to do when disappointed with Mr. G's spanking?

1. Find a corner and sulk. Better yet, cry.
2. Be quiet and ignore it. Then do something, anything!
3. Shout!
4. Visit and comment on a thousand blogs a day to get your PR back.
5. Binge into eating and forget about Mr. G's spanking.
6. Open more blogs, like 10?
7. Spend your disappointment on your treadmill.

Anything else?

Practical Ways

Sunday, July 27, 2008

In a third world country like where I live, top of the line technology or gadgets are quite expensive. Aside from the fact that our currency is perceived to have less value than other currencies in the market, our buying power has less capacity than other nationalities. Thus, people have to look for ways and means to counter this state of living. Either most people have to work hard to earn a living or live frugally to cope with the escalating prices of goods and services.
When it comes to health issues, being careful and following the natural diet as much possible can be effective means to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Thus, avoiding hospitalization expenses or medications the best possible way. However, there are times that accidents do happen. Whether or not people like it, hospital is the only place to stay and sadly, expenses follow suit. Ready or not, money has to be spent.
No one wants money spent on services or products which are not worth the value, right? So people here tend to look for strategies to save every penny on hospitalization bills. Buying generic drugs to consulting doctors who are into public practice are just a few ways to cut on expenses. When it comes to medical equipment, people should be aware that there are many used medical equipment that come very affordable and highly functional which can be ordered online, very easily. Aside from having high quality brands and largest stock, these refurbished medical equipment are updated regularly. So why waste people's money to something which functions the same as the more affordable ones?
Of course no one wants to be sick for any period in time, however, staying in the hospital or being sick at home need not be a big worry to our finances. There are always alternative ways to find our way to good health again.

I am quite sad today.
I learned my pagerank got slapped.
Well, that is life.
I win some.
I lose some.
But this one is a big loss.
I lost my PR 2 to PR 0.
I hate to admit it, but I feel sad this happened.
Sad, sad, sad.
What can I do but hope again that Mr. G will be kindest to give me back my PR soon!
What about your site?

Every year my extended family or clan from my maternal side celebrates a reunion. It is a one day affair with lots of fun, food and presentations. My aunts and uncles from my mother's side as well as all my cousins gather together to celebrate. It has been awhile since we have been doing this tradition. It only happens once a year and we really make it the most memorable event ever.
Last year my our family was the sponsor. When it is a family's turn to sponsor, food, program and venue are shouldered. Each year each family take turns to sponsor.
Since the reunion will be in December, we have an ample time to prepare for our own family's gimmick. I remember last year was the time when color coded T-shirts were worn by each family. Other printed their own or wore matching colors.
So when I saw this special sale online by VistaPrint for easy design and print solution, I got light bulbs glowing in my mind for new gimmick stunts. T-shirts can be printed or magnets for souvenirs are quite novel and new. I am sure my cousins would love the idea. My siblings and our children can avail of this special sale.

These pictures will show how everyday life at home goes.

Baking is the all-time favorite activity of the girls. No, i guess the eating is more exciting...

What's for lunch?

How do you like Tilapia fish with coconut milk for lunch?
Then, more baking and chaos and noise then some more baking....eating, eating, eating!

Then time to tinker with the computer. My nine-year old using Photoshop to make some collage. She wants to learn digi-scrapping. Gosh, she uses HTML book of hubby for color codes...I feel so outdated....

Seven of Me

Friday, July 25, 2008

Grabbed this from Vina . I just thought it is fun to do.

The rules:
A. List these rules on your blog.
B. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog.

~ Facts about Me ~

1. It takes time for me to warm up to people. Shy? No. It's just me.

2. I usually stay indoors cause unlike my Mama, I am not a mobile person. Behaved? No, plain lazy.

3. I have very few real true friends but lots of acquaintances.

4. I prefer to spend most of my time with family and relatives.

5. Blame it to 3 major surgical operations, in the span of 5 years: I am soooo forgetful.

6. I do not wear make-up.

7. I love to eat. No, I always eat, eat, eat, eat. Thanks to genetics my heaviest weight is 120lbs.

Do i know someone with carpal tunnel syndrome?
Yes! I know one who has the syndrome.

See these pictures? This is my husband's wrist right now. You see, my dear husband has been into programming and tinkering with computers since 1990. That makes it 18 years of interlude with the computers which resulted into this state of his right wrist. It is not the normal kind of wrist, right? There is a little bump in the wrist joint. There are times that it is really taking toll on him and he is in constant pain. There are times that he wants to just let go of the mouse and rest his wrist. However, being a web developer and maintaining his own I.T. business he cannot help it but be in front of the computer all day and even at night. If it is not his eyes which are tired, it is usually his wrist which is in pain.
When I browsed online and saw this carpal tunnel relief I was overjoyed. I knew this is what my husband needs. Finally, he can be relieved of his misery just by putting this on while he does his programming every day. Thus, when I showed this to him, he knew pain is over!

Passing this on to my "kadamo":

I just got back from browsing one site which offers paid post. I was having a good time until I saw one comment of another blogger. It was not positive at all.

For one fleeting moment I was blowing my top. Why can't other people mind their own business or stay inside their own fences? But then again, I thought of not wasting an iota or a fiber of my being to non-sense nuisance...

What is it that most aged and wise people say? "If you do not have anything good to say then keep your mouth shut." Other people can't help but spill their insides. Well, that is sad but it is true.

I think it is true that: Hurt people hurt.

My blog ranks 6th in the most popular Entrecard under my category . Smile...

It ranks 12th in the most popular site for the credits (needed) to advertise on my blog.

My blog traffic has reached the number of visits and page views needed to at least maintain or escalate my rank with Alexa. Not too high but not too poor either: 200,773.

Just enough for me to at least be jubilant about it.

Reasons to smile about come everyday. Not to mention my cheap thrills here.

So let's get a pen and count our blessings! Who else will?

Back To The 80's!

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

I am a child of the 80's era.
For many young ones today, the eighties era sounds antiquated and totally passe. But in retrospect, 80's brought a lot of novel and really creative ideas which revolutionized today's multi-media and entertainment. I know it has been a while since the 80's era but truly those movies that brought forth new perceptions how movies are made.
Remember when Patrick Dempsey and Michael J. Fox were the matinee idols? Remember Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy in the sci-fi movie WarGames? It has been 25 years and still well celebrated! WarGames 25th Anniversary is showing for one night only .

Reminisce the 80's and watch!

1. Woke up being hugged by my best bed-mate, as always...

2. Peeped in my Mama's house and found her asleep contentedly like a baby, people at her place said she got tired after playing online games. See, my Mom is techie at 67.

3. Prepared food for my family: fresh, hot and filling...

4. Walked two-way to our convenience store just to pay a visit while conversing non-stop with my 6 year old, the living chatterbox.

5. Prepared my daughter's food - ready for tomorrow.

6. Got to drink soda, today.

7. Grabbed one opp!

8. Hubby got one client's payment - yippee!

9. Chatted with my sister online.

10. Waistline is still 29.......Relief!

11. I love this button on my blog today.

It shows how hard work through visiting other blogs and dropping cards pay off.
Life is simple. It should remain that way thus I love cheap thrills!

We rearranged furniture in the house.
Pushing and pulling with hubby was tiring.
Cleaned dust on the entire first floor.
Blogged in between chores.
Taught my kids during homeschooling time.
Cooked Chicken Soup (for the family's tummy, not soul.)
Blogged in between chores.
Washed the dishes in between drops of entrecards.
Did some opps.
Yawned most of the time.
Took my baths 2 times. Hot!
Rearranged books: about a hundred in the house!
Joked, talked, had a short make-up/beauty session with my girls.
Finally was able to buy bread at 9 pm.
I always miss the sunlight...

Whew! SAHM-things never end...LOL!

Team Captain, Anyone?

Tuesday, July 22, 2008

Isn't it sad to hear stories of how great people of yesterday or years suffer at present? I am fully emphatic to this issue because my husband's uncle suffers from Alzheimer's Disease. And he is just in late 50's when this happened. He used to be a very smart marketing man who held positions in various multinational corporations. Nowadays, he hardly recognizes his siblings and peers.
So when I heard about this Alzheimer's Memory Walk I got interested and want to be involved. More than just awareness and information dissemination, raising funds for further studies and support are the thrusts of this event. So far, this is the grandest event to call for volunteers and those who will champion the cause. What is a 2-3 mile walk compared to the extent it will bring in terms of achieving a world without Alzheimer's?

So let's walk with a purpose and achieve a future without Alzheimer's! Wanna be the team Captain?

So who wants to be my partner in saving lives?

What is common with diseases like leukemia, anemia, lymphoma, diabetes and cerebral palsy? They can be treated with umbilical cord stem cells. Yes, that is a fact.

In United States alone, there are about 30,000 people diagnosed in a year that can already be treated with cord blood stem cells. Imagine how the value of cord blood can save lives everywhere, anytime. Truly, the miracle of life can save more lives! Many people might be wondering how to preserve the cord blood that comes from their babies to help in treating diseases with stem cells.

How does one preserve it? There is no problem how to do this. Cryo-Cell is here to help those who are interested to bank their baby's cord blood. No one knows what the future holds, so for those who want to be ready for its potential health-related use of the umbilical cord blood, bank it with Cryo-Cell.
This is very a timely thing to do because July is Cord Blood Awareness Month.

What do you think of 8 siblings together , ages 25-42 : eating, laughing, teasing and conversing non-stop in one room for almost a day? How will you justify seeing 8 different personalities from one set of parents?

Riot is an understatement!

Seriously, I loved it! Nothing beats the bond I feel with the people whom I share genetics composition with: my five sisters and two brothers! I know not all of you have such diversity of gene pool! And yes, I know it was one of those rare times.

Papa must be smiling down from heaven seeing us together. I hope!

All eight of us siblings were together for almost a day. One minute we were pretending to be serious , and then there were bouts of laughter the next second. The unpredictability of the moment added spice to the "no-occasion but special time" we had.

Actually, the "no-occasion but special time" was actually a meeting held because we are putting up a business. Yeah right, idiosyncratic people like us can actually put up one. Over pizza and tons of other food - business details were discussed, suggestions were thrown, financial analysis was done, organizational set-up was somewhat deliberated, pros and cons were weighed, and laughter was shared.

We were one in dreaming that who knows a year or so from now the business will boom. Then we will own something like real estate in Naperville or buy real estate Chicago Land? I would want to get one from Real Estate in Chicago II, seriously!

Who Needs Cisco?

Friday, July 18, 2008

Just got back from an afternoon walk with husband. It was tiring but refreshing break. After about thirty minutes of brisk stroll, we decided to rest on one of the benches around the field where we were walking. The breeze was quite a treat, having had a long day of house work for me while he had his own challenges working on a new web design project.

As we took our time, our conversation jumped from one topic to the next. He told me he needs to win a networking bid which he submitted to a local university. He was explaining how projects as such need more of his attention and time. He was emphasizing on how stiff the market these days is, when it comes to winning big projects as such. Aside from the fact that he needs all the credentials and qualifications that he has, he thinks it is also best to upgrade what he knows and get a Cisco certification the soonest possible time. More than just getting new knowledge and skills, Cisco certification will truly boost the I.T. business he has put up and worked so hard for.

As we finished our conversation, we both agreed that in this competitive world we have right now, we always need to upgrade our knowledge and skills in order to adapt. As we always quote to each other: "young tigers are leaner", which means every now and then, younger if not fresher generation always comes to replace the older ones thus we better keep up with the fast-paced world of ours.

Otherwise, what we know will be antiquated or outdated. Who wants to be obsolete? Not us.

Our family is Catholic.

Naturally, we have frequent discussions about Christianism and Bible-related values.

This one goes beyond what I expect from my 9 year old:

Daughter 2: Mom, is it true that God is the Author of our lives?

Me: Yes, that's true. Why?

Daughter 2: So, who is the editor?

Pass the Parenting Manual please...

When I look around our place, I am convinced it needs a repaint.
However, with escalating prices of commodities and other skyrocketing utility bills' increases, I know I need look for the most economical way to get the job done. So when browsed about this company that offers quality repainting jobs with no obligation for estimates, I got interested. Are you interested too? Click this link and learn more here.

Getting Better

Monday, July 14, 2008

Last Saturday, my husband and I went to a program. We were invited to this kind of program for about fifth time already. Before this one, we were always having reasons not to accept invitations like this. It was not because we did not want to, but because there were truly valid reasons for us not to be able to.
Years back, we were very young parents in our early twenties. More than just being young and both busy with our works, our babies were coming non-stop thus we seemed to have never enough time changing diapers and wiping milk spills. Imagine, we had 3 babies in five years in our early twenties!
Anyway, since we found the timing quite right, these days ( babies have grown to ages 10, 9 and 6)plus the fact that this program can help us; for one reason that i want a better marriage.
The first session was good enough. It was nice meeting new people and different couples.Strangely though, we were one of the youngest couple around.
I believe this will improve our relationship as a couple and our faith as individuals. Whatever will happen later, I know it is for good. Just like what Emergent Church offers, it is always for some optimistic results. If you need help, find a church in Rancho Santa Fe surely it will help.

Do you believe in blessings?

I do.

In fact, when life hits me with blows, I start to count my blessings...

Most of the time, I view blessings as life's perks and surprises. Something that can jolt me and snap me back to the reality that despite odds and ends of today's life, blessings are here to spice my life and make me look up to say: Thank you, God.

Blessings come in different packages. Be it small or big or grand, they give me reasons to be thankful and believe that Someone greater than my abilities and intelligence is in charge of the Grand Plan beyond my comprehension.

Blessings remind me that no plans, no strategies or even analysis of life's intricacies can ever make me comprehend or control what tomorrow brings.

So, got a pen? Count your blessings!

It has been a boring week for me but definitely a domesticated one. I seem to be doing the laundry endlessly, yet the laundry baskets never get empty. Or do they?
My mood swings have been constant and i just hate it when it affects the girls. I just can't help but snap or raise my voice more frequent than necessary.
It has been four months since I took my leave of absence from work and still I have not felt that rest I need to make. Chores never stop. Household issues and concerns keep cropping up. Dishes keep on piling and dust never seems to leave the house no matter how I clean up. I do not know how to say it but I know sooner I have to make life-changing decisions which hopefully will give long-term positive effect to everyone in the household.

For now, I just found out I am a spoon.

You Are a Spoon

You are a well rounded, balanced person.

You are friendly and welcoming. You get along with everyone.

You are easy going and laid back. You don't have any hang ups.

Non judgmental and accepting, you are a comfort to people around you.

This survey reminds me that hours from now, dirty dishes have to be washed again, again and again.

Wanted: Mommy Bloggers

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Mommies are great people. I swear!

Not just because I am one of them, but because they truly are sources of limitless love.

Why? Let me count the ways...

They love unconditionally. Which means there are no if's or buts included, they just love. Period.

Kisses and touches are like first aid kits to mend wounded knees and scraped elbows. Trust me I am a living proof.

Mommies understand what sacrifices mean. We know that truly, "sacrifice" is more than just a word in the dictionary.

Sleepless nights and tiredness are no match for the workload that await Mommies the following day.

Day in and day out, Mommies love for runny noses and tear-filled eyes will never fail.

Mommies are kids' greatest fan and the best hired photographers for every move and motions their kids make. Rain or shine, fireworks or none, Mommies will take pictures and keep albums from births to wedding days.

From first to last alley of the supermarkets, Mommies will scour for the most nutritious, most delicious and cheapest food their kids can ever have to grow healthy and strong despite the fact that no one looks or checks that they are doing so.

Most of all, Mommies are willing to put down their power suits and stilettos in exchange for maternity dresses and sneakers just to make sure that babies grow up as responsible adults later.

And right now, those Mommies who chose to stay at home to be with their kids are the best bloggers this world can ever have! Truly, madly, I believe I am one of them. So for Mommies like me who chose to stay home with my kids while waiting for them to be big enough to be on their own: let's blog! It is not just our families who want us but also SocialSpark.

Works for Me

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Is it bad to think unlike others do? Is it wrong to be out of the mold, rather than just be a face in the multitude? I do not have the answers right now. There are many times, however, that I think I am a non-conformist when it comes to some of life's paradigm. I so not say that it brings me riches and glory for being so. No. It is just that I am simply out of the bend or curve.
Let me be more specific in explaining this point.

When it comes to rearing my children I take the unconventional route. First, I let them answer back in the middle of arguments. No matter how unintelligible their words are in between sobs, I let them do the talking.I think it is better than letting them bury their hurts.

Second, I let them explore things the like to do. Messy house means busy people doing their own things. I do not let the mess trouble me. Books are everywhere, papers are accessible and toys are in every corner of the house. These things have to be done now or else they will be out of the house sooner than I expected.

Third, I chose to educate them in the most non-traditional way. Believe me, for 8 years there were no textbooks and workbooks. There were only story books and a few worksheets. It worked. Now they appear to be "not bored" with text and reads anything they get their hands into. There were lots and lots of projects, experiments, discoveries and discussions that went along.

Guess, when they grow older we will take the unusual route and enroll to something like what Nouveau Riche University offers. At Nouveau Riche University they will be free to decide how to do their own program in the most convenient way. Nouveau Riche University will give my kids the freedom to choose their career path to create wealth rather than be boxed into something they are not.
