What Am I Up To?

Friday, October 31, 2008

I love to read.
When I have time, I read anything. I started with simple books and poems. Then I progressed to more complicated plots.

Recently, I just finished Father Jocis Syquia's book, Exorcism Encounters with the Paranormal and the Occult. It is a very interesting book. One of the best lines I read here is: "The sad thing right now is many in the Catholic Church either deny the existence of the devil or tend to see him as someone that cannot interact in a major way in man's day to day life."

In simple terms, deception can also happen, right?

Now I started reading The Faith Explained by Leo J. Trese. I am still at the beginning part.
My favorite lines so far: "An ant has more right to criticize an Einstein than has a man with his limited intelligence to question the infinite wisdom of God."

Long Way

Dang.

I saw her instantly.

A personal bodyguard stood right next to her.

Clad in white top and jeans, she seemed to appear so simple from afar.

As I got closer, of course it was a different impression.

The Bally bag she carried is a proof that there was more to the white shirt and jeans.

Her personal driver was an earshot away from her; awaiting any errand she would ask any moment.

She has come a long way.

She spent almost all morning with us with the same chatter and warmth that she usually has: which amazes me for real. There was not a tinge or hint that I was sharing light moments with a corporate president - who she really is.

After more than two hours or so, she left aboard her Suburban .

My sister.

She has come a long, long way. She is an epitome of a successful, hardworking businesswoman.

I smiled.

Dang.

Who says life is fair? Well, I will tell you when I have my own bodyguard. LOL.

Why God made Mums...

Monday, October 20, 2008

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions.

Why did God make mothers?
1. She’s the only one who knows where the sticky tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mum just the same like he made me. He Just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men’s bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you Your mother and not some other mum?
1. We’re related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people’s mums like me.

What kind of little girl was your mum?
1. My mum has always been my mum and none of that other stuff.
2. I don’t know because I wasn’t there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mum need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mum marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mum eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mum didn’t have her thinking cap on.

Who’s the boss at your house?
1. Mum doesn’t want to be boss, but she has to because dad’s such a goof ball.
2. Mum. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mum is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What’s the difference between mums and dads?
1. Mums work at work and work at home & dads just go to work at work.
2. Mums know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but mums have all the real power ’cause that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friends.
4. Mums have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mum do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don’t do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mum perfect?
1. On the inside she’s already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I’d diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your Mum, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I’d get rid of that.
2. I’d make my Mum smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Funny, right? Got it here.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. Follow the golden rule and life becomes way better.
2. Extra shirt is something I always take with me on vacation.
3. To achieve your goals, you must be willing to sacrifice and invest in extra effort.
4. My cooking ability is something I'd like you to know about me.
5. I have a positive outlook in life.
6. What floats?

2003 was the year this picture was taken.

Our three kids were aged 5, 4 and 2 then. See how thinner I was?
Full time work, being a wife, homemaking and motherhood rolled in one was quite a feat to hurdle!

This second photo was taken 2007.

With our kids older (ages 9, 8 and 5) and routines a little lighter we have changed!

Especially the weight?

What do you think?

Been busy lately. Hours of the day seem to pass by unknowingly. Have you felt that?
I always leave the house around mid-day for the past two weeks. My little one keeps on asking why she is always being left behind for the last fourteen days. She keeps on inquiring about the reason why I have to go out of the house. You see, she is not used to me leaving her behind for the last 6 months.I keep on explaining to her that I need to help out in the business my siblings and I put up. And that the business is also for her well-being. Eventually, she will understand. I bet she just needs time.

No. I am not a major stockholder of the new business. In fact, how I wish I am one. But the fact that I was included in the line-up is more than enough to be grateful for. My siblings are so good, they wanted me to be part of the business even if I do not have that much financial resources to speak of. All eight of us (siblings) are part of the new venture. With much prayer and real hard work I know it will soon prosper.

On another light, Inner 8 is the newest online business worth trying. It is such a formidable one on the beta stage. For those who are online constantly, I bet there's no more time to lose. Visit the site and you will surely be given a good break.

One day, I was so beaten when I came home.

I rewarded my dog-tired body with this moist, creamy cake...

Guess what is its name?
"Better Than Sex" cake.
No kidding.

It's yummy, creamy and truly rewarding, after a day's hard work.

You agree with its name?

1. October is my most anticipated month of the year. It is the month when I turn a year older and hopefully wiser.

2. The thoughts of leaving my kids and family behind because of my sudden death scare me but I do not entertain such thoughts that often.

3. Leaves are falling all around, it's a sign that a new season has come and life completes its cycle one more time.

4. My favorite horror movie is none because I am not a fan of horror movies. I watch films to be entertained not to be terrified, plus the fact that I hate having nightmares afterward.

5. Family time, relaxed moments with hubby, laughter and kids' antics = good memories.

6. It was a dark and stormy night when I was bored and thought of searching online that was the time I found out about casino.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to time to sleep early after work, a good dinner with the kids' chatter and tomorrow my plans include doing the laundry and baking cookies and Sunday, I want to rest, witness a baby being Christened and attend the mass together with my whole family!

I am 35. Today.

So, how is it to be 35?

Let me count MY ways:

  • mother of eleven, nine and six years old girls - who all talk like 35.
  • wife for 12 years to a good husband - who goes to Mass as often as he can, if not everyday. yes, ladies he is a rare species.

  • daughter to a strong woman.
  • has been an educator for almost 13 years.
  • sister to seven siblings far richer than I am ( lucky me, right?)
  • blessed with God's unfailing grace every single day to live with purpose
  • blogger for almost 2 years...

I am blessed.

We all are.

SO what is missing for me? Fat bank account. LOL. I still have years ahead of me to settle that.

But what I am blessed with now, I am more than thankful.

God is good. All the time.

Ain't life grand?
