See You!

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

I haven't been dropping entrecards that often lately. Days have passed and i haven't had the chance to drop by to other blogs to comment or just visit. Been quite busy with other things lately. And I love the new routine I have right now. It is something out of the usual. I promise to give you a dose of my presence one of these days. See you around!

As I turn 35 this month, I have been thinking long and deep. Should I shift careers from teaching to something else, I badly need to decide which path. Or else I will find it too late to shift from my 12 year teaching career to something more interesting or financially rewarding. It is difficult to think that what has transpired for the last twelve years in my professional life will just be part of history. However, I do not like to be stuck with something or with a superior which makes me miserably unhappy. I have to move out or forever dwell in my misery.

Moreover, having three kids and never-ending bills coming, I have to help my husband with our finances also. It is a fact of life that one has to work for his or her own keeps, otherwise debt collection will be constant in our household. As the kids grow older, the needs are also expanding. It is a blessing that our kids are so used to living frugally, that they do not ask for material things constantly. Had it been the other way around, I would not know what to do.

Decision-making is truly not an easy task, especially if lives depend on me.

Tears

Sunday, September 28, 2008

School grades are NOT that meaningful to me. Important, yes. Significant - partly. Grades tell only half of the story; which is the learning process. What is written on the card does not indicate the entire learning that took place. Ironic, it may sound because I am an educator.

My eldest girl's grades were not that impressive last quarter. Knowing her, I am convinced she could have done better. Knowing her, I know she has learned more than what her card indicates. Had I been a grade conscious parent, I would really be disappointed. Hubby was the one more dismayed.

So hubby and I talked to her. The goal was not to pressure her to do better or bring home good grades. The idea was to ask her if she was contented with what she got. Bursting into tears, she said no and apologized to us. And that she wanted better grades next time. We asked her if she wanted our help and she said : yes. Thus, the three of us schemed a plan to help her improve her performance next quarter.

I told her: "Along the way we will be disappointed, dismayed or frustrated with some of the things that you do, but we will always LOVE you as you are."

How about you? Do you talk to your kids this way, too? If not, how do you do it?

Sugar Overload.

Thursday, September 25, 2008

The yummiest Pandan cake on the planet was ravaged in the household last 23rd of September. It was supposed to be topped with 35 candles, but the birthday celebrator found them too many to grace this round cake.

Sugar overload is a hyperbole. The cake was yummy and aromatic without being too sweet. With yema (milk candy) filling it was suited enough for someone who now dances in midlife - the husband.

Yes, the noise of three rowdy girls with non-stop chatters in between mouthful of cakes bearded with icing is not an exaggeration.

Happy birthday, husband.

Do you have kids?

Three girls!

How old are they?

- 10, 9 and 6

What do you think is the ideal age for the kids to be sent to school?

5 is the best time because this is the age when the child has more or less formed a self-concept from the nurturing of the home. Independence can be taught as well as self-help skills are present already.

Would you consider sending your 3-year-old toddler to school?

No. Especially not in the traditional schools where paper-pencil and teachers' chalk-talk happen.
This way is another word for PUNISHING the child! Three-year-old toddlers do not even know what school is.

Explain your reasons.
Is there any other reason why they should be in school at this early age? I believe none. Nothing, really. Before the age of five, kids are usually immersed in parallel play and less of collaborative play or involvement in social circles.

It is the parents who want them to be cognitively advanced, sociable and all those things; which can sometimes be a pressure on the part of the kids. In reality , kids should be playing , be more free , exploring and having fun in the most unstructured way under the nurturing parents, not in the pressured, competitive and skills-driven environment.

After all they will be children only once, so why force them in an adult world?

Triple Treat to Beat the Bulge

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Beat the bulge before it beats you. Loosen the pounds and be happy about it. Easier said than done, right? However, that is not anymore the case with XFLOWSION. Read on and you will find out. It has become "easier said and easiest done" now! Let me tell you how.

XFLOWSION is a three in one workout that will benefit your body. It is triple the fun with combination of dance, power yoga and martial arts moves. It is such a hit to celebrities in Hollywood because no less than celebrity trainer Eric Paskel brings out the best curves and shapes to hotties bodies! With the combination of varied, constant moves bodies get to be sculpted in no time.

Every day I read online and from prints how difficult it is to loose pounds when one does not enjoy the routines of exercising at all. So, for sure this will bring a revolutionary way to treat ourselves to loosing weight: to have more fun and loose more weight!

Stop the boredom of our usual exercise routine. It is time to get off the "more of the same" method of exercising. The only way to loose that bulge is to have more fun with XFLOWSION.

My kids attended a cousin's costume (birthday) party. Each kid who attended the party dressed up as his or her chosen anime character. What can I say? They had a blast!

My second girl, Hannah (as Kagome) in green, my niece Dap, the birthday gal (as Sango) and my little one Erika in purple (as Ino).

My Erika (as Ino) - striking a pose here with her Ate Hannah (as Kagome) watching.

One more pose for her with a matching umbrella.

Kagome, Inuyasha (my nephew Bubuy) and Sango (birthday gal Dap) pose for the camera!

My eldest girl, Madel, came dressed as Sakura. She is with another cousin, Ayed. Meaner looks guys, please..

On the hindsight as a parent, attending parties is one good way for kids to learn how to socialize. Be it taking turns in getting goodies, participating in games or communicating with other people in the party, deciding which food to partake or practicing proper table manners - kids have a venue to master their social skills.
.

Scene 1: Mom and kids watching the news. Apparently, the news on child abuse is so rampant that social welfare steps in to deal with the issue seriously.

Kid 2: Why are the parents being questioned about their kids?

Mom: Well, they have to answer the questions of the authority.

Kid 2: About what, Mom?

Mom: Regarding the fact that they let their kids work at such young age. It is against the law.

Kid 1: Really? Why?

Mom: Because they are supposed to be playing, having fun and not working. Kids have rights, you know.

Kid 2: So why aren't you being asked, too?

Mom: And why should i be asked?

Kid 2: You always tell me to get you a glass of water or order us to ALWAYS fix our bed in the morning. Are those not part of that law?

Silence.

Scene 2: Silence. The most rare moment in the household happens.

Tried this one. This shows my results. I wonder how exact this test can be...

The use of plastic bag, is what I am referring to.

That is why when I buy 3-4 items in the convenience store, I usually refuse to accept a plastic bag to go with my purchased items. What's 5 minutes, anyway? That's such a short time for discomfort, right?

I am not a hardcore environmentalist, but simple steps as such I believe will definitely matter when multiplied every time I grab grocery items. Imagine: if every household in every street, everyday and every year will do the same...boy, we are giving our kids a better earth!

Simple acts of kindness to our planet can definitely go a long way...for our children!

Got something to share?

Cast of Characters:

Mom (me)
Kid 2 (my 9 year-old)
Kid 3 (my 6 year-old)

Kid 2: Hey Mom, do you know that whales are mammals and they are not hatched as eggs when they are born?

Kid 3: Really?

Mom: Where did you get that information?

Kid 2: It's here in the book that I am reading. And do you know that even if they live in the water, they cannot breathe underwater? They need to get to the surface just to get air.

Kid 3: Okay...

A few moments of silence...

Kid 3: If whales cannot breathe underwater, then why do they live in the water? Shouldn't they be on land like us?

Whooa.

Dead silence.

Now, it is time for the Mom to research what in the world is the grand Purpose of whales underwater!

Oh man, I should have taken a doctorate in Marine Biology before having this kind of kids.
LOL.

What's your probable answer?

ILasik Information

Thursday, September 04, 2008

I have been blessed with good genes when it comes to my vision. Both my parents wore reading eyeglasses when they were already in their fifties. Up to now, my Mother who is 67 years old, wears reading glasses only. Among my seven siblings only one of them wears glasses. Hopefully, with proper diet and care of my eyes, I will inherit the trait from my parents.

However, for my husband it is the opposite. As long as he can remember, his parents have been wearing glasses. He also has pair of eyeglasses which he seldom wears. Lately, my second child has been showing signs of visual impairments already. She often misreads and mispronounces words and thereby affecting her comprehension. Most of the time, there are more incorrect words that she reads than the correct ones. This worries me big time since this will consequently affect her academic performance. That is something that we should not compromise. Thus when I came across this LASIK information and how beneficial this is even to NASA personnel under extreme physical situations, I started to get interested.
LASIK technology is becoming known to many now as it brings about better vision for many people. Have you tried it?

Took off an hour to explore the area where I live. An hour to exhale. Just me and my flip-flops.

Exhaling time to forget about laundry, dust, bills and kids' noise.

Hubby had his usual walk to lose weight. Left with a cellphone and solitude, I took these. A little blurred but just wanted to share...

Hats off to my entrecard droppers...Keep them coming and I will drop back.

Are you an Obama fan? Do you want to support the cause this man advocates? I think, he rocks!
What better way to announce my admiration for Obama than to put up Giant Obama Bumper Stickers on every space available? I love to support the man who will probably be the next President of the U.S. Since the stickers are five times larger than the usual bumper sticker size, they are truly cool enough to declare my support boldly.

Now is our time to really support this man who has worked his way up to success and hopefully great change will happen!

These are the things on my mind for now.

1. When I take a walk, I think about relaxation and how life should be taken with optimism. More and more people seem to be taking life in the fast lane that less and less time is spent for themselves or other people whom they should be valuing.

1. When I’m sick I’m such a weakling, I would rather be in bed and not with people. That is why even if I am sick I do not like to think that I am. But right now I would like to shop.

3. Money can’t buy happiness but it can let you shop and choose some sexy lingerie!

Boudiche-image---la-perla-_

4. I like to give myself some treat like any woman usually does and shop for different colors, designs and to-die-for designer lingerie.

5. It is very strange not to want to shop for such kinds of lingeries because these lingeries make me feel like a real sexy, woman.

6. My favorite color these days is light blue because I want a new designer lingerie with such color , i wonder if they have one at Freya lingerie ?

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to more time online to browse or if possible to shop online, tomorrow my plans include trying to reinvent my antiquated wardrobe and , I want to be able to do all these because I owe it to myself to look good and feel good about looking good.. Indeed, only me can make me feel happy and satisfied.
