I am back in the blogging groove.
Thanks to hubby who got me the new laptop I am using currently. However, being online all the time has its downside too. My eyes are often exposed to to glare of the computer monitor.
I need to check the new arrivals so I can pick which one can help. $8 Prescription Zenni Glasses come good enough for me.
We will see.

One of the most dwindling sights in this wired, techie world of ours - hopscotch by kids!

Rare are the occasions, when kids are out in the fields or open space. They are either in front of the television catching up with the latest shows or tinkering with the newest interactive gadgets no end.

With the busted TV remote for more than a week now, my kids are stretching their muscles and playing under the sun.

It is good for the body.
It challenges the spirit.
The sheer joy of interacting with real human beings in this modern world is one of the pleasures hopscotch brings!

See you in the next round as I search for music torrents.

Just a quarter kilo of meat sauteed in garlic and onions then the vegetables (string beans and squash) came next, our family of 5 had two meals with this healthy and frugal recipe. After a cup of water, a dash of salt with pepper, few minutes of boiling in freshly-squeezed coconut milk...

Voila! Fresh, inexpensive food on our table.

Triple Treat to Beat the Bulge

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

Beat the bulge before it beats you. Loosen the pounds and be happy about it. Easier said than done, right? However, that is not anymore the case with XFLOWSION. Read on and you will find out. It has become "easier said and easiest done" now! Let me tell you how.

XFLOWSION is a three in one workout that will benefit your body. It is triple the fun with combination of dance, power yoga and martial arts moves. It is such a hit to celebrities in Hollywood because no less than celebrity trainer Eric Paskel brings out the best curves and shapes to hotties bodies! With the combination of varied, constant moves bodies get to be sculpted in no time.

Every day I read online and from prints how difficult it is to loose pounds when one does not enjoy the routines of exercising at all. So, for sure this will bring a revolutionary way to treat ourselves to loosing weight: to have more fun and loose more weight!

Stop the boredom of our usual exercise routine. It is time to get off the "more of the same" method of exercising. The only way to loose that bulge is to have more fun with XFLOWSION.

ILasik Information

Thursday, September 04, 2008

I have been blessed with good genes when it comes to my vision. Both my parents wore reading eyeglasses when they were already in their fifties. Up to now, my Mother who is 67 years old, wears reading glasses only. Among my seven siblings only one of them wears glasses. Hopefully, with proper diet and care of my eyes, I will inherit the trait from my parents.

However, for my husband it is the opposite. As long as he can remember, his parents have been wearing glasses. He also has pair of eyeglasses which he seldom wears. Lately, my second child has been showing signs of visual impairments already. She often misreads and mispronounces words and thereby affecting her comprehension. Most of the time, there are more incorrect words that she reads than the correct ones. This worries me big time since this will consequently affect her academic performance. That is something that we should not compromise. Thus when I came across this LASIK information and how beneficial this is even to NASA personnel under extreme physical situations, I started to get interested.
LASIK technology is becoming known to many now as it brings about better vision for many people. Have you tried it?

Do you know that when we give our kids choices, it helps them be good decision makers?

Studies show that giving kids choices to decide helps them:

1. develop better perception of things around them, how to make good judgment and even develop their sense of self-confidence;

2. be in control thus it gives them logical assessment and perception of situations;

3. have sense of self-reliance, consequently confidence is boosted;

4. get an idea of how "cause and effect" happens , which they will use later and very frequently in adult life!

Giving choices need not be in all situation. When "no choice" situations happen, it is best that we explain it to them!

Seafood Galore!

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

I am such a sucker for seafood.

I drool over pictures of different sea food recipes. Name any seafood recipe , I will eat it anytime and whatever way it is cooked.
Shrimps, fish, crabs or squid are really among my top food favorite. Give me a whole week just eating seafood and by all means, I will be more than willing to extend it for another week of seafood diet. More than just being delicious, different variety of seafood are good source of iodine and protein thus they are good for the body.
That is why, when I chanced upon this seafood cook off through www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com, I immediately browsed over the different new recipes from different chefs, and took my time scrutinizing each entry. It was tough deciding which entry to vote for since all entries are mouth-watering creations! I finally decided to vote for Texas Gulf Shrimp recipe by Chef Mark Holley. More than being healthy, the Texas Gulf Shrimp recipe contains all-natural ingredients made up of different herbs, spices, cheese, black beans and many others.
The cook off encourages the benefits of using locally produces seafood because of its sustainability. More than being fresh, great tasting and healthy, it can also promote the local market of seafood.
On my part, aside from the love for seafood, I love the idea of knowing new recipes and having the chance to win a free trip to New Orleans! Imagine the opportunity to learn more about seafood recipes plus the chance to win a free trip. So, why not also try and vote for your choice?

Last week, my dear hubby told me that his father needs to undergo an eye surgery. I was quite agog to learn such fact. Last time I saw him, he was up and well. At 71 years of age, I always perceived him to be fairly strong. Thus, the news bothered me a little.
The moment i heard the news, i searched online for different information regarding eye surgery or operation and I came across LASIK information.
I just came to know that Lasik is a process for vision correction. It is a well-studied medical procedure that brings about superior safety and quality visual result. Although not all people are eligible to undergo Lasik procedure, it is a highly recommended surgery for those who need to get better vision in the painless way.
Would you believe that even the NASA and U.S. Military have approved of the use Lasik, which combines customized treatment for the 1st all-laser technology and 3D mapping, even for pilots and astronauts!
I wonder if my father-in-law would like to try Lasik. It is truly a necessity for him to undergo the eye surgery to relieve him of the discomfort plus correct his vision in the earliest possible time.

Practical Ways

Sunday, July 27, 2008

In a third world country like where I live, top of the line technology or gadgets are quite expensive. Aside from the fact that our currency is perceived to have less value than other currencies in the market, our buying power has less capacity than other nationalities. Thus, people have to look for ways and means to counter this state of living. Either most people have to work hard to earn a living or live frugally to cope with the escalating prices of goods and services.
When it comes to health issues, being careful and following the natural diet as much possible can be effective means to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Thus, avoiding hospitalization expenses or medications the best possible way.However, there are times that accidents do happen. Whether or not people like it, hospital is the only place to stay and sadly, expenses follow suit. Ready or not, money has to be spent.
No one wants money spent on services or products which are not worth the value, right? So people here tend to look for strategies to save every penny on hospitalization bills. Buying generic drugs to consulting doctors who are into public practice are just a few ways to cut on expenses. When it comes to medical equipment, people should be aware that there are many used medical equipment that come very affordable and highly functional which can be ordered online, very easily. Aside from having high quality brands and largest stock, these refurbished medical equipment are updated regularly. So why waste people's money to something which functions the same as the more affordable ones?
Of course no one wants to be sick for any period in time, however, staying in the hospital or being sick at home need not be a big worry to our finances. There are always alternative ways to find our way to good health again.

Do i know someone with carpal tunnel syndrome?
Yes! I know one who has the syndrome.

See these pictures? This is my husband's wrist right now. You see, my dear husband has been into programming and tinkering with computers since 1990. That makes it 18 years of interlude with the computers which resulted into this state of his right wrist. It is not the normal kind of wrist, right? There is a little bump in the wrist joint.There are times that it is really taking toll on him and he is in constant pain. There are times that he wants to just let go of the mouse and rest his wrist. However, being a web developer and maintaining his own I.T. business he cannot help it but be in front of the computer all day and even at night. If it is not his eyes which are tired, it is usually his wrist which is in pain.
When I browsed online and saw this carpal tunnel relief I was overjoyed. I knew this is what my husband needs. Finally, he can be relieved of his misery just by putting this on while he does his programming every day. Thus, when I showed this to him, he knew pain is over!
